Tell us about how you contribute to the success of Carrick Wealth as an organisation.
I have been with Carrick since its inception and over the past 6 years I have witnessed how the company and the number of staff have grown. New offices were opened successfully while we created and established the Carrick brand. My personal journey has taken me from starting as a Wealth Advisor to my current role as a Manager with a dynamic and highly skilled team based in Johannesburg. Through this role I enjoy helping each member of my team to grow personally and professionally within their respective roles, and to become successful and achieve their goals.
What is the best part about your job?
I would say the best part of my job is twofold. Firstly, it is helping my team grow, succeed, and achieve their goals, while also watching this growth within each individual. Secondly, it is seeing the type of clients that I advise and who have trusted me with their investments. A big part of what I take pride in, is helping my clients achieve their goals and to see the difference I have made in their lives for the better and moving forward.
Tell us about your personal and professional growth while working at Carrick.
I have grown personally at Carrick in terms of my maturity as an advisor and carving out for myself a particular part of the advisory space that I am truly passionate about. The latter relates to helping clients structure their wealth portfolios more efficiently with regards to succession, estate and tax planning. This has allowed for my own professional growth and furthering of my skill set. As such I have obtained a qualification in Advanced Wealth Management from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI). I have since also registered at the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners to qualify as a certified Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP). This effectively is the benchmark qualification for advisers who specialise in inheritance and succession planning in the trust field, such as solicitors, barristers, attorneys, accountants, tax advisers, trust officers and administrators, and banking and insurance professionals.
What is a typical day at work like for you?
After an early morning workout, I get to the office around 7am, do my admin and then plan the day ahead. I have meetings with my team to ensure they remain aligned to their goals and are achieving their targets. I balance such meetings between communicating with my clients, managing their wealth, and also trying to further build the business. In addition to this, I also set aside priority and quality time for my family, who are the biggest ‘shareholders’ in my life.
We appreciate the considerate words from our clients about their experience of working with Carrick. We have kept the identity anonymous to honour the privacy of our clients.
