Cape Town, Wednesday, 03 July 2018 — Carrick Wealth announced the promotion of Mike Potts and Greg Stockton to the positions of Joint Managing Directors, a move seen as utilising their complementary strengths. The appointment is effective immediately.
Carrick Wealth Chief Executive Officer Craig Featherby said the appointments would hasten the company’s growth and expansion.
“Both Mike and Greg have years of experience in building, developing, and managing sales teams, but equally so they have complementing strengths,” said Featherby. “The shift towards a joint MD role will see the existing business flourish with further expansion into Africa.”
Prior to the announcement, Potts and Stockton each held the position of Director: Wealth Management and Advisory. Both have vast experience in the financial services industry, ranging from senior positions as secured lending managers to developing successful advisers and managers globally.
Potts holds qualiﬁcations from the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) as well as certiﬁcation in regulatory examinations with the Financial Services Board. Stockton has received numerous leadership awards, including being named one of the top senior managers in the industry. Both are passionate about creating and developing high performance teams.
Potts said he was excited by the appointment.
“In South Africa we have taken huge strides towards Integrated Financial Planning for our clients, bring local and international portfolios under one roof,” he said. “I am incredibly excited to be working with our International offices, and to help bring some of the lessons we have learnt in SA to the rest of the continent. I’m also very excited to be working closely with Greg Stockton again. We both have complementary skill sets and I believe we can leverage on these to help take Carrick to its 2020 strategy and beyond.”
Stockton said he was excited by the promotion. “Focusing on Carrick’s international business operations for the last six months has been extremely exciting and we have seen huge growth in the number of advisors, products, client acquisitions, managers and offices,” he said.
“I am thrilled to be taking up my new role as managing director,” he added, “I aim to bring as much enthusiasm, passion and focus to our South African business, as well as maintaining the momentum we have created internationally. “Given Mikes Potts’s experience and business acumen I am delighted for us to be working together to start the next chapter for Carrick as we drive ahead with the company’s long-term vision of changing the face of financial services across Africa.”
Featherby said that the financial services industry was a fast-moving business and nowhere is this more apparent than in the wealth management sector.

Potts and Stockton will be jointly responsible for the existing Carrick offices in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Gaborone, Harare, Blantyre, and Nairobi as well as the International Office based in Mauritius.
